Palm oil is the most commonly produced vegetable oil in the world
It is great to see that Iceland food stores are making a move to ban palm oil in it’s own food products.
Although palm oil contain:
- Monounsaturated and Polyunsaturated fats
- Vitamins A and E, which are powerful antioxidants.
Research has also shown that If consuming the dietary fat Palm oil as part of a healthy balanced diet, you are at no increased risk for cardiovascular disease.
This means that even if you replace it with other oils rich in mono or polyunsaturated fatty acids you will gain no other additional benefits.
However, Iceland are looking at the bigger picture and have decided to stop using palm oil because of the devastation it is causing to tropical rain forests across southeast Asia.
